God Just Shows Up
I was getting ready to lead prayer this morning on Facebook and discovered I was late. So I didn't get to read my Bible. While on the live cast, I decided to read my devotion of the day. Hebrews 13: 1- 3 1 Let brotherly love continue. 2 Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. 3 Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body. Verse 1 - Love each other. Now that many of us are not as active as we usually are, it appears we would like some love and attention. Especially during this time, we need to show love to others. How can you show some love to your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family? Verse 2 - Show hospitality! I noted in my live cast that opening one's home to others was considered a great act of faith. Over the last few decades, we have closed off our homes and hearts to others in fear of being hurt. Now in just a few weeks, we have opened our lives and invited people into our lives - virtually. How can you connect with someone today who cannot leave their house? Facebook? Facetime? Learn how to make a video call. Seeing a new face makes a big difference! Verse 3 - Remember those who are in prison (quarantine). There are a lot of people who feel like their home has become a prison. Don't allow their minds to descend into darkness and lose hope. Acknowledge the need, but don't allow others to wallow in it. Watch what you say, especially your anger. It is easy to allow those who are acting in selfishness to annoy you. And if it isn't that, it's technology. These verses couldn't be more important right now. PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to be a source of hope and encouragement today. AMEN.
