GOODNESS

"Oh, they are such a good person." I wanted to scream. The person they spoke of would go out of their way to be nice. They would bring gifts and say the right thing at the right time.

But they were known for some shady business dealings, lying. They were fudging their expense reports, stealing, and creating drama that would benefit them financially.

My stern advice was to not enter any business with them. They didn't listen and learned the hard way.

Goodness goes beyond avoiding evil. It is the active expression of moral excellence and virtue. It entails doing what is right and righteous and is motivated by God's love.

Gal 5:22-23 (NLT) shows us that the Holy Spirit empowers us to produce goodness. It is a reflection of God's character in our lives.

The biggest key to genuine goodness is selflessness. When we have nothing to gain from our actions, this will flow from agape love, the first fruit of the Spirit. It's about living a life that is a reflection of the character of Christ that positively influences others.

Dear Jesus, all Your goodness to rule and reign my life today. AMEN
