Yes, I am riffing off the title from William Shakespeare, The Taming of the Shrew.
In a world that often glorifies self-promotion and self-centeredness, the Bible offers wisdom on avoiding being narcissistic. At its core, narcissism is an excessive focus on oneself while ignoring the needs of others.
The Bible teaches us to humble selflessness and to love others. But we find that times, that is difficult at best. What can you do?
Seek Humility:
Proverbs 11:2 - Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom. (NLT)
Humility isn't a sign of weakness but a testament to inner strength and wisdom. It allows us to recognize and accept our limitations along with our imperfections. With humility, we will enable ourselves to learn from our mistakes and the wisdom of others.
Humility fosters cooperative relationships by preventing arrogance from ruling. Through humility, you can give and receive empathy.
Cultivate a heart that acknowledges your imperfections and relies on God's love, acceptance, and forgiveness, which is His grace. You will experience beautiful friendships, marriages, and families that bring joy to your heart.
Dear Jesus, teach me to be humble and accept myself as You have made me. AMEN.
