In Mark 9:24, a father's honest confession of doubt—"The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (NLT) —exemplifies the tension between faith and doubt. This paradox reminds us that doubt doesn't extinguish faith but refines it. It prompts us to wrestle with questions, refine our beliefs, and find truth on a more profound level.
Doubt, when handled correctly, has the potential to cultivate humility. It acknowledges that our understanding is limited, drawing us closer to God's wisdom. Doubt, when approached with a seeking heart, pushes us to overcome uncertainties and grow stronger in our convictions. Just as God met Gideon's doubts with signs and reassurance (Judges 6:36-40), our doubts can lead us to experiences that deepen our trust in Him.
Dear Jesus, help me overcome my doubts today by embracing Your truths and trusting Your will. AMEN
