BE FAITHFUL 1st WITH YOUR FIRSTS.

Putting God first is more than a casual thought.  It is a goal for every believer.

There are so many "gods" that challenge us for our attention and our supply every day.  It is tempting to give social media our first thoughts in the morning.  To give the first day of the week to anything else but God.  It is tempting to give the firsts of our supply to our bills and see if anything is left over for Him.  You see where I am going with this.

If you put God first in your life, then everything will come into order.  No, I am not saying that life will be easy.  But when life is tough, you want to know that God is there.

Proverbs 3:9-10, "Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase."

Jews understood the idea behind the tithe.  If they didn't pay it, they owed it back with interest to God. (Lev 27:31.)  They considered the tithe (10%) the minimum to give.  They practiced giving the "first fruits," the first from their crops, the first from their herds.  Think about it.  They didn't know if the rest of the crop would be enough for their need or if the animal would give birth again.  Tithing was an act of trust and faith on their part, thus saying, God, I trust you to take care of me.

Being faithful, not just consistent but heart invested in your faith, is recognized and honored by God.

Dear Jesus, help me be faithful with everything you entrusted me today.  AMEN
