“I love that approach to prayer, that approach to life. It’s the circle maker’s mantra: 100 percent of the prayers I don’t pray won’t get answered.” Mark Batterson, The Circle Maker Amazon Apple Books
No prayers, No answers
I read that quote by Batterson, and it shook me. The simplicity of the logic is inescapable. If I didn’t pray for it, why do I ask, surprised, even defeated, when it doesn’t come to pass?
Why did you stop praying? That was the question the Holy Spirit asked me, and I knew I was not only busted but also distracted. My prayer life, at that time, wasn’t what it should have been. But my rants at God about how unfair He was being and how I shouldn’t have to suffer did get His attention. In a moment of crisis, the Holy Spirit spoke those words to me. My heart sank. I knew my heart was out of alignment with the will of God.
What is in your prayer circle? As you fast (Blog Day 1) and pray. Take the time to write down everything you want to pray about. The list may be long but think of it as an act of faith. Realistically, you don’t have enough time to pray for everyone. But you can pray over that list. Lay hands on it, and as the Holy Spirit brings certain people to mind. Pray for them.
What to pray for today.
Pray as Jesus taught us in Matthew 6. “May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” NLT Pray that you stop building your kingdom and let God teach you how to live in His. Pray for people to realize this truth and accept it for themselves too.
