20 Days of Prayer and Fasting - Day 2

Day 2, and you’re already discouraged?
Don’t be surprised; here’s how you work through this.
Remember, you’re going to forget and make some mistakes with fasting. You’re developing a new habit, so cut yourself some slack.
Remember, Satan, doesn’t want you to do any of this. So all those “distractions” and thoughts to justify not doing this are not from God. He is rooting for you right now!
Praying for verses Praying Through
Some of the material I am referencing is from the book The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson. He is one of my favorite authors and a great inspiration to many people. You can order his book at Amazon, or for Apple users, here is your Book link
In chapter 4, he talks about Praying for verses Praying Through.
As a youth in the church, I remember people going to the altar and staying there until there were done. Sometimes we just left and told them to lock the door on their way out. They were not just praying; they were praying through
Be consistent in prayer. I had a gentleman tell me one time. “I don’t bother God with asking the same thing day after day. I tell Him once and then let it go.” I shared with him the parable of the Persistent Widow in Luke 18. You’re not bothering God but pursuing faith to rise to your occasion.
“You are always only one prayer away from a miracle.” Mark Batterson
But prayer is serious. Do you want to be heard, or do you want to touch the heart of God? When you move to the latter, you’re prayer life changes.
But why do I have to pray through? Doesn’t it matter to God?
Yes, but you matter to Him also. Your relationship with God isn’t something you manage. It is something you experience. Remember, through the highs and lows, the challenges and the victories; God is there.
What to pray for today.
Pray for everyone who is praying and fasting with you. Pray for Faith Family Worship Centers' leadership. Pray for their protection, provision, and wisdom.
