BIBLE READING Titus 1: 10 - 16 10 For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party. 11 They must be silenced, since they are upsetting whole families by teaching for shameful gain what they ought not to teach. 12 One of the Cretans, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons." 13 This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, 14 not devoting themselves to Jewish myths and the commands of people who turn away from the truth. 15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. 16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.
What does this passage mean to you?
BLOG: Psalm 118:24 This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
James 4:13-15 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."
Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
2 Corinthians 6:2 For he says, "In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
As it turns out, the Bible has a lot to say about today. Too often, we worry about what has happened in the past, which leads us to worry about tomorrow. All the while, you have today to live and enjoy. Here are a few things that you can practice every day that will help.
Forgive yourself of your past. You are not perfect, nor were you ever perfect. No one around you is perfect either. Let it go and forgive yourself. The sooner you embrace this, the sooner you will be able to move on with your life.
Don't worry about tomorrow. That isn't to say that you throw caution to the wind. Do not allow yourself to fret over what you don't know. Trust God with your needs.
Worship God today. You have a whole day to enjoy and honor Him. Embrace your gift with love, hope, and joy. Let this day be the best.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, I'm giving you today. I need your hope and joy today. AMEN.
