God Is An Alien
BIBLE READING: 2 Tim. 3: 1 - 5 1 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
What does this passage mean to you?
BLOG: So someone said to me the other day that they believe that God, a god, or some other entity out there, punished some humans who were living on another planet by sending them here to this planet.
Huh?
We suffer from diseases, cancer, and everything else, while the wildlife that exists here is just beautiful. They are supposed to be here, and we are not.
Now I'm thinking, "This guy believes this stuff!" He isn't a follower of Jesus; in fact, he believes in another religion.
Gen 3:17 And to Adam he (God) said, "Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, 'You shall not eat of it,' cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;
I get where this guy is coming from. Life stinks, and he wants to know why? Fair enough. He believes that there are several gods in existence (universalism), and he believes in reincarnation. So the idea that a god out there, somewhere, decided to punish humans on another planet and send them here really isn't going to be that big of a stretch for him.
But here are a few truths that you may need to know.
We are aliens. Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, This earth isn't our eternal home, heaven is. So we don't belong here.
We are under the curse of sin. Life isn't fair because sin exists. Even the earth we work on gives us trouble. (See Gen 3:17)
God isn't angry with us. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. Sin wasn't His plan, but it was our choice. We made it.
Jesus came to reverse the curse. "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?" (John 11:25–26) We live in a world of sin, but we don't have to be in bondage to it anymore.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help Pastor Russ reach his friend with some good news. Thank you that you are not angry with me. AMEN
