BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 6: 15 - 16 15 At just the right time Christ will be revealed from heaven by the blessed and only almighty God, the King of all kings and Lord of all lords. 16 He alone can never die, and he lives in light so brilliant that no human can approach him. No human eye has ever seen him, nor ever will. All honor and power to him forever! Amen.
What does this passage mean to you today?
BLOG: Have you ever read one of those "For Dummies" books? You know "Cooking for Dummies" or "Fitness for Dummies?" I knew someone who read "Call Centers For Dummies" and got a job running a large call center for a major corporation.
There are books entitled, "The Bible for Dummies" "Christian Prayer for Dummies" and "The Book of Revelation for Dummies." I get it. It's a book for someone who knows little to nothing about a particular subject.
But you're no dummy. A least you don't have to be.
Here are three ways to prevent you from being a dummy.
YOU'RE NOT A DUMMY! Psalm 139:14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.
God didn't create you and say, "Oops, I messed up!" Everyone is precious in His sight. That's incudes you. No matter how you feel, God has always and will always love you. Treat yourself that way. Don't think that you are a mistake and don't believe anyone who tells you that either. God thinks your awesome.
LEARN WISDOM James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
Ok, let's be honest. You don't know everything you should know. But that doesn't make you a dummy. Learn. Read God's Word and let it teach you things like patience, leadership, and character. God will take what you learn and use it to lead your life away from potential stupid decisions.
HANG AROUND WISE PEOPLE Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise,
but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
There is a teaching among motivational success speakers that goes something like this. You will be like the five people who spend the most time with. "According to research by social psychologist Dr. David McClelland of Harvard, [the people you habitually associate with] determine as much as 95 percent of your success or failure in life."
Pick people who follow Christ and make the right decisions with their life.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, I'm no dummy, but I need you to give me wisdom and the courage to use it every day. AMEN
