3 Ways To Make Your Weekend Better
BIBLE READING: 2 Timothy 1:1-2 1 This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I have been sent out to tell others about the life he has promised through faith in Christ Jesus. 2 I am writing to Timothy, my dear son. May God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord give you grace, mercy, and peace.
What does this passage mean to you?
BLOG: Wheeee! It's the weekend! For many of you, the workweek is over, and it's time to enjoy some R n R.
Now some of you are getting ahead of me and saying, "Go to church! The guy is going to say, Go to church!" No, I wasn't going to go there - even though it wouldn't hurt you.
Proverbs 13:20 Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.
My question is, who will you surround yourself with this weekend? What kind of impact are they going to have you? Did you know that who you surround yourself with will have a significant effect on the rest of your week?
If you surround yourself with gripers and complainers, what kind of impact will they have on your heart and mind? If you surround yourself with positive encouragers, would that make a difference? I know that you love your friends and family, but you must consider what price you are paying.
So do this.
1) Determine to be the encourager. You will praise people, be genuinely happy to see them, and do something to improve their day.
2) When someone starts griping and complaining, change their tune. Find something else to talk about - just not the Miami Dolphins. (I hope they get at least one win this season.)
3) Do something positive. It could be something as little as feeding a homeless person or as big as painting someone's front porch. Just find a need and fill it.
How would these three things change your weekend? Let me know in the comments below!
Oh, by the way. I bet you would find positive, encouraging people at church. Just saying.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to have a great weekend! AMEN
