Time For A Tune Up?

BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 2:7-10 7 And I have been chosen as a preacher and apostle to teach the Gentiles this message about faith and truth. I'm not exaggerating—just telling the truth. 8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. 9 And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. 10 For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.  NLT

BLOG: I remember one of my cousins was a huge motorcycle fan. He always had some beat-up junker of a motorcycle around. I would watch him tinker on them until it was time to start it up. This is back in the days of the old kick starter. So you would flip the starter pedal out, get your balance and throw all your weight down on the pedal. But the bike wouldn't start, and he would try again and again and again and again. You get the picture. After a while, he was exhausted.

What I noticed was that he wouldn't try to fix the bike until he was utterly worn out. After 3 or 4 false starts you got the message. This bike isn't going to go anywhere. But he would keep trying. After a little more tinkering and a lot of prayers, he would try again and VROOOM!

I know a lot of people who live their lives this way. They keep trying to get their life going again and again until they are finally exhausted. Only then does the thought occur to them, "Somethings wrong."

Before you spend $10,000 on a "fix my life" seminar or go spend a ton of money on a therapist, let's review a few things.

Do you pray? Ask God what is wrong in your life. He will lovingly and gently tell you what you need to address.

Did you read your Bible? God's Word is alive and speaks to you. What does the Bible say about your specific need?

Are you grateful? If you have a bad attitude towards life, that's going to be a problem.

Have you been hanging out with other people of like-minded faith? Surrounding yourself with encouragers sure helps.

PRAY: Dear Jesus, what do You want me to do with my life today? AMEN
