Out of Control?
BIBLE READING: 2 Thess 3: 6 - 10 6 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don't follow the tradition they received from us. 7 For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you. 8 We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you. 9 We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow. 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: "Those unwilling to work will not get to eat."
BLOG: Change happens, and you might as well embrace it. So many people try to control their world because they are afraid of the change that might occur. Now there is nothing wrong with planning, being prudent with one's life decisions, or making responsible ones. But there is another level to this that can lead to destruction.
Matthew 6:25 and verse 33 - 34 25 "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Fear is a powerful feeling. If you feel that your life is out of control, then you will react accordingly. People will manipulate their relationships, lie about who they are, and even go as far as to hurt others to feel secure.
Jesus told us in Matthew. Don't worry about the brand of jeans you wear, the brand of car you drive or what restaurant you are eating at. Isn't life more important than those "things"?
Put God first in your life and allow Him to meet your needs. Paul goes on to teach us in Philippians to be content whatever status of life we live in. Why? Because our status in life makes no difference in our status in eternity.
Don't worry. Life has enough to deal with. Let God be in control of your life, and you don't have to be afraid of tomorrow.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to place my trust in You today. AMEN
