Love Never Stops

BIBLE READING: Col. 2:16 - 19 16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality. 18 Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud, 19 and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body. For he holds the whole body together with its joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

BLOG:  So around midnight I was driving down the turnpike and realized I hadn’t blogged.  For the last 5 days I had been hanging out with 12,000 teenage followers of Jesus.  You heard me right - 12,000.  The National Youth Convention along with the General Council of the Assemblies of God was taking place in Orlando.  Anneka danced in the Worship Dance Solo Senior Division and scored very well.  But to be honest, I was exhausted by the time it was over.  Apparently, according to my step counter, I walked nearly 20 miles in the Orange County Convention Center.  That probably explains why my feet hurt.

1 Cor. 13: 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

While at General Council I watched youth group teams and participates put it all on the line.  They performed with all of their heart.  But what I noticed was the leaders behind the kids.  Youth pastors, Music Ministers, chaperones, leaders and encouragers who all had one thing in common.  They loved their kids.  I watched the old adage unfold before me.  “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.”  Some leaders celebrated with their kids achievements while others held them as they cried.

These leaders were not about to give up on their kids no matter what.  They love them with all of their heart and are willing to sacrifice their time and life to see them achieve.

Paul tells us that things like prophecy and tongues (gifts of the Spirit) will eventually stop.  But love with never - ever end.

Who will you love forever?  Who are you willing to pour your life into without reservation.  Who are you willing to sacrifice your time and life on?  Who are you will to take the risk with?  Your love can change someone’s life.  Who is that person going to be?

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, help me to love others as You have loved me.  AMEN.
