What Smells???
Phil. 1: 27-29 27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News. 28 Don't be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself. 29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him. 30 We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.
BLOG: Could it be your attitude?
"You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off the old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds." (Ephesians 4:22 NIV)
Emotions are contagious. If you hang around negative people, you'll have a negative attitude. Likewise, if you hang around positive people, they will brighten your day.
So why can't you be negative? There is a mountain of evidence that proves a straightforward truth. Negativity destroys your life. It will ruin your health, both physical and mental. It will ruin your career or whatever goal you have for your future. It is expensive and painful.
So what can you do?
Surround yourself with positive people. No, they don't have to be perfect, but you will become like the 4 or 5 people you hang around the most.
Give your emotions to the control of the Holy Spirit every day. Romans 6:13 Ask Him to help you see your world through His eyes.
Don't let anger get out of control. James 1:20 Be angry and then get over it, quickly. If you don't, it will become a root of bitterness that causes dread in your heart.
Let other people help keep you in check. Remember those 4 or 5 people I spoke of? Permit them to call you out when you're negative. Hebrews 3:12–14
Focused on what you are in control of and don't sweat the stuff you can't. Psalm 56:3 Feeling out of control causes fear. Pray and ask God to take control of that which you cannot. It helps.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to have a positive attitude today. AMEN
