+ vs. -
BIBLE READING: Phil. 2: 5 - 11 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal's death on a cross. 9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. BLOG: Positive vs. negative. To opposites on a battery terminal or a magnet. They are different as night and day, black and white, up and down. Both are a choice.
What does the Bible say? Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
But Proverbs 15:13 says A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.
There is no doubt that a consistent negative mood will harm your health, relationships, job, career, and calling. It is estimated that 99% of all doctors visits are the result of stress and negative emotions. I heard this morning that America is #1 in the world when it comes to depression and anxiety.
What do you do?
Choose to be positive. No this doesn't "make" you a positive person, but you've got to start somewhere.
Don't give up. You may be in a bad situation. Don't allow your situation to determine your mood. A new dawn will change everything.
Reject the negative. At first, you will fail. You have a bad habit. But keep going. A new habit takes on average 66 days to kick in. Keep trying.
Be grateful first thing in the morning. Choose something that you are grateful about and write it down. As an extended exercise, write 50 different things that you are thankful for right now. Not as easy as it sounds.
Read positive books and watch positive media. Stop filling your mind with negative junk.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to be positive today, even in the face of negative people and situations. AMEN
