Someone Is Knocking
BIBLE READING: PHIL. 2: 28 - 30 28 So I am all the more anxious to send him back to you, for I know you will be glad to see him, and then I will not be so worried about you. 29 Welcome him in the Lord’s love and with great joy, and give him the honor that people like him deserve. 30 For he risked his life for the work of Christ, and he was at the point of death while doing for me what you couldn’t do from far away. (NLT)
BLOG: Opportunity is knocking, but will you open the door?
What if I don't like what I see?
What if I don't like what they say?
What if I don't like where this is taking me?
Opportunity always disguises itself in tough situations, and it still requires you to make a sacrifice. But of what? Your fears. Opportunity may need you to speak up, stand out, or even take charge.
Here are a few things you may not know about your relationship with Christ. He will make the opportunity, but you have to take a step of faith and open the door. Some assume that God will do all the work. He doesn't. He requires us to make an act of faith that will cause us to face our fears and grow in perseverance and character.
2 Timothy 1:7 For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
God does not put fear in our hearts, and Satan offers fear as an option for you to embrace. Nobody makes you afraid. You have to choose to be frightened. That's why we often say, "Make better choices." When we live by faith, we believe that God has His best interests in mind for us at all times. Whatever opportunity He places before us, we can be assured that it is good.
Ephesians 5:16 Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.
That's why you don't want to miss many opportunities. Life flys by quickly and before you know it you will have wished you had not cowered in fear. God offered His blessings, but you never opened the door.
I have a hard time saying that I am an opportunist. I know some opportunists who take advantage of every situation and everyone else too. Faith will never lead you to use people. It will lead you to love them and take them on the journey with you. Faith will also encourage you to seek wisdom from God so you will know who should and shouldn't go on your journey.
But some people are going to hate. They wished they had opened the door, and they may even try to take it away from you. Guard your blessings, be good stewards/managers of them. Don't be afraid to speak the truth with love.
What opportunity is before you today? Don't hesitate, go for it. Don't be afraid, lead - don't follow.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, please help me to take advantage of every opportunity You put before me today. AMEN
