Satan Always Overplays His Hand
DAILY BIBLE READING: Phil 1: 7 - 11 7 So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. 8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
BLOG: Many years ago, I heard an old preacher say, "Satan will always overplay his hand." It was intrigued hearing a preacher who didn't believe in playing cards use a poker analogy.
But the truth was simple. Satan doesn't know when to stop. His desire to destroy you knows no bounds. He can't stop.
Job is a great example. God permitted Satan to ruin Jobs life, but do not touch him physically. Satan took everything away from Job, but he would not renounce God.
Satan told God that if he could make him ill, then Job would lose faith. So God allowed him to cover Jobs body in sores. Still, Job wouldn't give up.
It only deepened his resolve in believe in his God.
Job 23:12 I have not departed from the commandment of his lips; I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my portion of food.
But what do you do when Satan keeps coming at you?
First of all, don't give up faith. Keep praying and pray with more persistence. What is God's will and focus on that.
Then, remember what God has done for you in the past. A quick history lesson will remind you that He has never left you or given up on you.
Remember Gods' Word. Romans 5:20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more,
In the end, Job didn't give up the faith, and God restored everything that he had lost and then some. If hell is determined to make your life miserable, resolve to put a stop to it, and place your faith in Christ.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to put my faith in You today. AMEN
