When Should You Pray?

Right now!!!  What about tomorrow?  Yes.  What about in an emergency?  Yes, Oh, yes.  When everything seems to be going right, yes, Yes, and Yes.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

That praying without ceasing thing is essential.  We learned this Sunday, in Adult Life Group, that praying without ceasing is about bringing your mind back to Jesus again and again.

But let's look at a few reasons why you should remember the Lord continually.

There is always a need.  If you don't have one, someone you know does.

You need to center your spirit daily and in the morning.  We know that there is the Holy Spirit, that there are demonic spirits who work against us and that we have a spirit.  We have to make a conscious choice to follow the Holy Spirit every day.  Never assume that you are just doing it.

Praying is an act of humility.  God is in charge, and you are not.  It calls for your total and complete dependence on Him.

Prayer comforts you.  In a time of trouble, when you don't know what to do, prayer brings peace.

If I couldn't tell God what was going on in my life right now, they would probably have to come and take me away in a straightjacket.  No, I'm not kidding.  Each day I face new, tough challenges.  There are things in my life that are so big that if I don't get God's help - I'm doomed.  I've got to pray.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, I am praying, and I am asking You to bring my mind back to You today as often as possible.  AMEN
