Judges 7:2 The Lord said to Gideon, “The people with you are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hand, lest Israel boast over me, saying, ‘My own hand has saved me.’
Now we begin with the story that most people recognize — Gideon's Army of 300.
God: Hey Gideon!
Gideon: Yes Lord?
God: Your army is too big!
God had in the past and was to in the future defeated smaller enemies with larger armies. So if you don't get it, let me say it this way. It's not about the army!! Too often we focus on what we have rather than focusing on the one who is providing our way. God knows how to defeat the Midianites. So he takes time to speak to Israel's faith.
Paul said in 2 Corinthians 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. But here is the deal. If we walk by faith, we will see God work in our lives.
Let me illustrate it to you this way. I have to wear glasses. Have done so since the 4th grade. Without them, I cannot see. So the first thing I do every morning is put them on. Faith is like glasses. You can see, but not clearly. It focuses your future and helps you know what God is going to do in your life.
But Pastor "I can't do this without . . . " Let me finish the sentence for you before you do ". . . . God!" "I can't" doesn't mean you are weak. "I can't" doesn't mean your stupid. "I can't" doesn't mean you're worthless. "I can't" means that you need to put your faith in Christ.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, "I can't" but with you "I can"!
