You won't believe this!!
But I made you click on a link. "No, you didn't Russ I choose to click on it." Really? For what reason. The words Click Here are so ingrained into our culture that we, without thinking, just do it.
Now, what's my point?
Every one of us is creatures of habit. That's no secret. The better question you need to ask yourself is who are creating these habits? You or the world around you? Ask yourself this question today. Why?
Why do you check your emails 50 times a day?
Why do you go on Facebook 10 times a day?
Why do you take a selfie every day?
When you find yourself doing something that is habitual ask yourself why?
2 Peter 1:5-8 Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
While the Bible doesn't really give us a chapter entitled, "5 steps to better habits" there are a couple of things I do see you may need to know.

When you allow God to develop your habits, know that He is going to address your lifestyle while empowering you with His Word and the Holy Spirit.
While the Bible doesn't really give us a chapter entitled, "5 steps to better habits" there are a couple of things I do see you may need to know.
1 Corinthians 9:25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things.
1 Corinthians 9:27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control,
Self-control and discipline are hard work. The Holy Spirit will help you, but you've got to have the desire to do it. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Create a string of success. If you are going to read the Bible. Do it every day. Try to get as many consecutive days as possible.
Do it, even if you can't do it well. One of the biggest deterrents to success is our idea of quality. If you can't do it well, don't do it at all. Don't go there. Even if you can't read 5 chapters in the Bible today, read 10 verses. Now I have to say this. Don't get it the habit of reducing quality. That only cheapens your habit.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to do what I am supposed to be doing today. AMEN
