There are only 4 days until Christmas. I'll be honest. I thought I had more time. I went out and did a little Christmas shopping, got a cup of coffee and came back to the office. Whew!!!
As we make the last minute arrangements for our Christmas events, I would like for you to think about a couple of things.
First of all, what is the purpose of Christmas? To celebrate the birth of Jesus? Or it is what the guy on the radio said, "To spend quality time with your family." Well, you can celebrate those things, but that isn't why Jesus came. The purpose of Christmas is the salvation of mankind.
Secondly, who is Christmas all about? Some would say the children. Others would say that it is for those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Well, close. We are the children of God (1 John 3), and we are in desperate need of a Savior (Romans 3:23)
Then, when does Christmas take place? December 25th you might say. We know that day was assigned as Jesus' birthday. Some might say that Christmas happens every day. Well, that could happen. But I'm thinking a little closer to home. When do you stop the world to think about what Jesus has done for you? When do you stop and give thanks for His gift of life? Christmas isn't so much a day as it is a moment.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, I am stopping right now and celebrating Your presence in my life. AMEN
