What Really Matters

As I sit here in my office writing, our cat - Latte - is sitting in a chair near me.  He isn't feeling good at all.  He has a virus.  Now the short story is that we have had him for 10 years and he's like no other cat we have ever owned.  We've taken him to the vet and called her a couple of times just to keep her informed.  But it is a virus and like all virus' you've got to live through it.

Now in this situation, it is a cat.  But it could be a child.  Your marriage could be on the rocks.  You're looking down the barrel of bankruptcy.  You've been fired from your job.  There are these things that happen in life that get our total attention and demand our time and effort.

But what do you give your attention too?  Do you give your attention to the problem?  Or do you give your attention to the solution?

The Israelites gave their attention to the giant problem they had in the promise land and ended up wandering in the desert for 40 years.

Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem to rebuild the walls.  But a large group of haters did all they could to distract him from his plans.  Fortunately for Jerusalem, Nehemiah kept his eyes on the solution.

Don't live in denial of your problems, just don't let them run your life.
Keep your eyes on the solution, Jesus is the author and finisher of your faith.
Patience is the key to your solution. Isa. 40:31 but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, show me how to keep my eyes on you every day.  AMEN

PS.  If you could say a little prayer for Latte.  We would appreciate it.
