A Better You or A Better Life

This morning, during communion, I said something to the effect, "Jesus died on the cross to make you better, not to make your life better (more comfortable)."

If there is anything that we know it is that being a follower of Jesus isn't necessarily safe or comfortable.

Paul was beaten.
Abraham lived in a tent.
David was chased all over Israel.
Moses had to wander in the desert for 40 years.

We remember the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross.
But we also remember the fact that His tomb is empty.
We remember the stripes on His back.
But we rejoice in the fact that His promises are dependable and reliable.

We celebrate the fact that there is hope.  We celebrate the fact that Jesus is our hope.

John 4:13-14 Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again, The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit does a work in your life that makes you more like Jesus.  That is my definition of, "better".

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, help me to be better today.  AMEN
