There is Hope

It's been a while since I have written this kind of blog.  So here we go.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

There is hope.  But what is hope?  Hope is God's Word.  His promises.  Promises like, He will never leave you or give up on you.  If you repent of your sins, He will forgive you.  He will give you wisdom and guidance in your life every day.  That He will always think the best about you and for you.  That He will still do everything He can to help you live your life for Him.  There are thousands of promises He has made to you.  He will never break them, and He will never stop loving you. 

But it takes faith to believe in all of the above.  Faith is acting upon your belief.  Faith is doing what He asks.  Faith is trusting Him to care for your life.  

So what is our hope, "killer."  Control.  When we demand to be in control, we destroy all hope.  To say, "I am the master of my destiny." is to refuse God's help in your life.  Either He is in control, or you are trying to be in control.  But there can be only one.  

Faith and hope are connected eternally.  But our desire to be in control will separate the two.  We can say, "I have faith" but our controlling nature never allows us to experience the fullness of faith.  We can say, "I have hope" but our controlling nature again never allows us to really believe that statement. 

There is hope.  Believe it.  Put your faith it.  What do you have to lose?  

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, let me have hope today.  AMEN

Today is Mothers Day.  On this day:  More people purchase fresh flowers and plants for Mother's Day than for any other holiday except Christmas/Hanukkah. In 2019, the National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates that US consumers will spend $25 billion celebrating Mother's Day. Shoppers will spend an average of $196.00 on Mom. Betty doesn’t like me blogging about her too much. So let me go with one more for now and let you see a bit of her heart.  She doesn’t like the world any better now than when she gave birth to Anneka. (Neither do I.)   If you think that’s a strange thing to say, you’re right. But let me explain myself.  The idea that a child will make your world a better place isn’t accurate. Stop shouting at the screen. Just keep reading.   Before we got pregnant, both of us had enough wisdom to understand what we were doing, in as much as we knew that this would change our lives.  Would it be for the better? That was the plan.  Would it enrich our lives? We hoped so.   But to think that a child would turn our world into a magical place of perfection and joy was never a thought.   If anything, the world worked against us from day one. (Still is.)
