Don't Be Lonely

Loneliness is one of the greatest fears in America today.  We are afraid of being abandoned or dying alone.  But why?

Because we are afraid that we will not be loved.  That in the present or in the end we will not deserve someone's affection.

So let's a few things straight.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Why will God never leave you? 

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Ok so God loves me all the time.  But what about people? 

John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. 35 By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Now I can go on and on about this.  But let's cut to the chase.   If you don't want to be lonely. 

Love God.  He will always show His love to you.  You don't have to pre-qualify to receive it.  All you have to do is ask. 

Love someone.  Show your love to someone else.  Show kindness and generosity.  Don't make people deserve your love.  Just give it away.  

Be loved.  Let someone show their love to you.  Most likely someone who said, "I love you" hurt you in the past.  Because of that, you have a problem trusting others.  I get it.  But still.  You can't be lonely. 

In a world that twists and turns love into anything but what it is supposed to be, it's easy to see why people fear loneliness.  But God will never fail to love you.  Let Him. 

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, love me.  AMEN

Today is Mothers Day.  On this day:  More people purchase fresh flowers and plants for Mother's Day than for any other holiday except Christmas/Hanukkah. In 2019, the National Retail Federation (NRF) estimates that US consumers will spend $25 billion celebrating Mother's Day. Shoppers will spend an average of $196.00 on Mom. Betty doesn’t like me blogging about her too much. So let me go with one more for now and let you see a bit of her heart.  She doesn’t like the world any better now than when she gave birth to Anneka. (Neither do I.)   If you think that’s a strange thing to say, you’re right. But let me explain myself.  The idea that a child will make your world a better place isn’t accurate. Stop shouting at the screen. Just keep reading.   Before we got pregnant, both of us had enough wisdom to understand what we were doing, in as much as we knew that this would change our lives.  Would it be for the better? That was the plan.  Would it enrich our lives? We hoped so.   But to think that a child would turn our world into a magical place of perfection and joy was never a thought.   If anything, the world worked against us from day one. (Still is.)
