When Hell Comes To Pay You A Visit

Yesterday, while I was writing a blog, something happened that scared the daylights out of me.  A friend of mines life was in danger.  Serious danger.  Now I cannot go into details for the obvious reasons.  Just know that they are ok now. Somebody praise God.

We all know and understand the situation.  Something bad happens.  It isn't usually something of your own making, but it makes a mess.  A mess you have to live through and clean up.  (Have you ever noticed that Satan never cleans up his messes?)  The repercussions of this mess could have a horrible impact on your life.  Crime can leave you frozen in fear.  Terminal Illness can lock you up in depression.  Divorce can leave you bitter.  You get the picture.

So what can you do that will help you through these messy and painful events of life?

Ephesians 6:11 - 12 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Paul lets followers of Jesus know that there is a spiritual dimension that they exist in.  That there is a battle taking place in the "heavenlies" over them and that they should stand against the evil that would destroy them.

I encourage you to read and study the rest of this chapter on your own.  Pauls wisdom will be of great benefit to you.

But I would like to add to that a few things that you will need to address too.

Don't do this alone.  Face live with people who will support you and love you.  The more you face, the easier it gets.

Don't give into fear.  Fear will paralyze you.  Fear will keep you from taking risks, enjoying life, embracing hope and receiving joy from others.

Don't allow anger to rule the day.  Anger, in and of itself, isn't a bad thing.  There are times and places for it.  But living in anger will morph into bitterness and wrath.

Don't forget.  Jesus came to overcome the world.  Whatever you are facing, Jesus has already overcome it.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, hell made a mess, and I need Your help to clean it up.  AMEN
