Respect Is A Lost Art

Romans 12:10  Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

So, this morning I had to make a run to Home Depot.  As I arrive, I notice an attractive woman loading lumber into the back of her pick.  But what I saw next was painful.  Every man in the parking lot ogling and drooling.  Then as I walk through the store, I notice some women checking out some guys as they go by.

Everyone thinks this is normal.  It shouldn't be.

But in a world where people shout obscenities at each other.
In a world where use hand gestures to insult each other.
In a world where the value of another person is only equal to your current mood.

We lose respect.

But as a follower of Jesus, we don't embrace that option.  In fact, we are to do the opposite.  We are to value others more than ourselves.  It is called Agape love.  It is a self-sacrificing love that gives without expecting anything in return.

So let's take my story from home depot and filter it through Agape love.

Yes, this woman is attractive.  There will be no ogling or drooling.
Yes, I noticed the men who were ogling and drooling.  I pray God will do a good work in their hearts.
Yes, I noticed the women checking out the guys.  No, I will not be offended.  Yes, I will pray that God beings to do a good work in their hearts too.
If God desires for me to be a part of their lives and to show them the example of agape love.  Then I will accept His will.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, help me show others respect today.  AMEN
