Risky Business
Got here as early as I could, did A LOT of work. Then I went to lunch, dropped Anneka and Betty off at the dance academy, came back to work, then again to pick Anneka up, drove to Boca where she had a try out for a summer intensive, then back to church, helped Betty pack up her jewelry show and finally sat down.
I'm burning the candle at both ends you say? I think you're right.
Taking risks is all a part of life.
The family and I recently watched the movie The Greatest Showman. Excellent movie and I don't go around recommending movies as a general rule. It's a musical and an excellent one at that. In it, there is a song entitled Tightrope. I listened to the lyrics, and in the first verse it says,
Some people long for a life that is simple and planned
Tied with a ribbon
Some people won't sail the sea 'cause they're safer on land
To follow what's written
It's true. Some people will not take risks. But life is full of risks. Without them how would we ever know the thrill of a rollercoaster ride, starting a family, buying your first car or starting your own business?
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
God knows the risks we face. He knows that we have to face life to overcome sin. He knows that we have to overcome our fears to experience His faith. Trust isn't something that comes naturally to us. But as we develop a relationship with Christ, we learn to trust Him.
