Jesus Loves Me This I Know!

Do any of you remember this children's song?

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak, but he is strong

Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me
Yes Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so

As a kid growing up in a church, I can't tell you how many times we sang this song. Like all songs in church, we would sing because we could. It was fun. But it wasn't until later in life that I discover the power of the lyrics.

Did you know that it was a hymn? According to Wikipedia, Anna Bartlett Warner (1827–1915) wrote the lyrics that first appeared as a poem. It appeared in an 1860 novel written by her older sister. In 1862 William Batchelder Bradbury wrote the tune and added his own chorus "Yes, Jesus loves me, Yes, Jesus Loves me..." After publication, it became one of the most popular Christian hymns in churches around the world.

Hear the message of the song.  Jesus loves me.  How do you know this?  The Word of God declares it plainly.  John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. We are not able to live this life on our own. We need help, and He will come through for us. 2 Cor 12:9 - 11. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Our days are filled with all sorts of messages.  Always keep them simple.

Here is your message for today.

Jesus loves you, you feel weak, but Jesus is right here just for you.

PRAY:   Dear Jesus, I need you today.  Thank you for loving me.  AMEN
