Just Another Cup Of Coffee

There are times that I have to stop, sit down and slowly drink a cup of coffee.  Today is one of those days.

Is the fast pace of your life about to make you scream?

Psalm 13 1 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? 2 How long must I take counsel in my soul and have sorrow in my heart all the day?  How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

When Betty and I were engaged, we went to this new kind of class for people who were getting married.  It was called, wait for it, premarital counseling.  This kind and successfully married couple teaching the course were quite patient and articulate.  But one thing they said has really stuck with me through the years.

Every time we get offended, if we don't deal with it, we put it in a gunny sack down deep in our heart.
Eventually, the gunny sack will burst, and everything will come spilling out at once.

Follow along.  Have you ever been around someone who just, "lost it"? You have no idea what set them off, but in a few moments their emotions are flowing out like lava from a volcano.  You want to run, but there is nowhere to hide.  The gunny sack burst.

In your fast-paced life, you don't have time to process the offenses or things that tick you off.  That's when you need to stop, sit down and take a breath to process your day.  Or as I do.  Drink a cup of coffee - slowly.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, help me to slow down today and not be offended with others.  AMEN
