How To Change Your World

Change yourself first.

In light of recent events, I am hearing people talk about how we need to, "change" things.  Most of what I understand though isn't really change at all.  It addresses peoples action but says nothing about the motives of their heart.

If you say, "I am going to be a vegan." So what?  But if you say, "I am going to eat healthy meals!" then you've changed something.

If you say, "I am going to stop yelling at people." So what?  You can still be mean with a kind tone.  But if you say, "I am going to treat people with greater compassion!"  Then something has changed.

#1 - Understand that change will happen.
Everything changes all the time, except God (see #4).  You will not be the same person you are six months from now.  Life causes change.  If you fight it - it will run you over.

#2 - Understand that change can be painful but productive.
Make the right choices so you can embrace the right change.  Change should stretch you, challenge you and push you to your limits.

#3 - Understand that change is bigger than you.
Don't be selfish with your change.  Change for a higher purpose.  Maybe it's an upcoming generation that needs you to prepare the way for them.  Perhaps it is for your marriage and family.

#4 - Understand that God never changes.
James 1:17  It is this foundation of your faith that gives you hope.  God will not change His mind about you.  If He loves you today (which He does), He will love you tomorrow, and there is nothing that you can do about it.

#5 - Let God change you!
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
We are not talking about, "turning over a new leaf" in your life.  We are talking about a metamorphosis.  God changing you from the inside out.  That is His desire.  Do you want to change?

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, Change me today.  AMEN
