David and Goliath - Finish the job!

So many giants come back because we didn't finish the job.

1 Sam 17
50 So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and struck the Philistine and killed him. There was no sword in the hand of David. 51 Then David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and drew it out of its sheath and killed him and cut off his head with it. When the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

Goliath has fallen.  David could have stopped there and declared victory; Goliath was dead after all.  But what is the point of defeating your giants if you don't follow through?  David did not walk out on a battlefield to show mercy.  He walked out on a battlefield to destroy the Philistines plans against his people, the nation of Israel.

David didn't just behead Goliath, he humiliated the Philistine nation.  The name David would strike fear in their hearts for decades to come.  Later in life, King David and his army had to face 4 more giants, all related to Goliath. (2 Samuel 21:15–22)  Believe me, none of them would assume that they would have the upper hand on David again.

Defeat your giants now and strike fear in the hearts of those in your future.

Defeat your giants now.  Unresolved issues can come and haunt your children in the future.

Defeat your giants now.  Defeat their fear and intimidation with your faith and confidence in God.  It will change your life.

When you defeat your Goliath, with God's help, let everyone know.  Tell the story and give God credit.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, I want to defeat the giants that are in my life, once and for all.  Help me!  AMEN
