God Wants To Make You Successful.
Someone gave me a book the other day and on the first page was this passage from
Ps 90:12,17 12 So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom. . . . 17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!
Or as the NLT says, "and make our efforts successful."
The idea that God will make us successful rubs some people the wrong way. I find that has a lot to do with their idea of who God is and what "fair" is. Is it fair that a few people are rich and so many are poor? Is it fair that we have to work so hard to make a living while some seem to blink their eyes and make money appear out of nowhere?
Well, appearances and opinions can be misleading. Let's set a few things straight.
#1 - God wants to make you successful. But He will define what success is. You need to ask Him what He thinks success looks like in your life. HINT: Don't assume that success is the American Dream.
#2 - God wants to make you successful. But He defines the parameters of that success. You will find those parameters in the Bible. HINT: Success isn't built on our talents but on our relationship with Him and with others.
#3 - God wants to make you successful. But you need wisdom. The Bible will tell you what to do, but you need His wisdom to know what to do with that knowledge. HINT: Fortunately, if you ask He will give it to you. (James 1:5)
Jesus said that the poor would always be with us. (Matt 26:11)
God stated that we would have to work hard for our living. (Gen 3:17 - 19)
Jesus said that trouble would visit those who follow Him and those who don't. (Matt 5:45)
God said that those who make their money through get rich quick schemes will soon lose it. (Pro. 13:11)
God never condemns anyone who is successful. He convicts those who are selfish and greedy. HINT: You don't have to have a lot of money to be that.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, I want to be successful in your eyes today. AMEN
