Churches and Dairy Queens

Driving from Tuscaloosa to Tallahassee was fun today.  Because it's a long weekend, traffic is light.  But there was something about the drive that caught my attention.  There are a lot of churches and Dairy Queens up here.  I mean A LOT!.

Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Jesus commanded us to reach the world with His good news.  All the churches that I saw today: big ones, really big ones, small ones - even one that couldn't be more than 3 hundred square feet.  They all had one thing in mind, to reach the world.

Then there is the Dairy Queens.  Reaching the world with ice cream.  I looked at everyone and saw that they were all busy.  Well, it is the summer time.  Now I have nothing against DQ's.  In fact, I just got back from one.  But ice cream will not save your life.

What are you looking for today?  Jesus?  Or Ice Cream?  We can look for a lot of hope in a lot of places, but there is only one that can keep His promises.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, I am looking to you today for all of my hope.  AMEN
P.S. I might have some ice cream too.
