Jesus Reigns Supreme

A couple of weeks ago I shared this quote.  "Our vertical "worship" relationship with Jesus rules our "horizontal" relationship with others."

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

If you want a better marriage - work on your worship.
If you want a better friendship - work on your worship.
If you want a better family - work on your worship.
If you want a better church - work on your worship.
If you want a better ministry - work on your worship.

Why?

Because anything else is idolatry.  Allowing a relationship to overrule Christ's guidance puts someone else in charge of your life.  Someone who isn't all knowing, all powerful and ever present.  Someone who isn't God.

Even the best intentions can lead to the worst of results if Jesus isn't leading the way.  Remember, the better way isn't always the right way.

The key is to #1 stay humble.  Humility allows God to lead you.  #2 stay patient.   Patience keeps your emotions from running amok and ruining your life.  #3 stay close.  Worship draws you closer to Him.  His voice should always be louder than anyone else's.

Today, during the ordination service, I was reminded of this.  That as a minister and as a leader my aspirations are not to promote myself, my church or my ministry.  My aspirations are to promote Jesus Christ.  With that in mind, I have no problem saying that I believe I pastor the greatest church in the world.  No, it isn't the biggest, no it isn't the best organized.  But it has the most awesome people I have ever had the privilege of pastoring in my life.  I love THE church.  I love MY church.  I love FAITH FAMILY WORSHIP CENTER in Palm City, Florida, where Christ is our heart and people are our passion.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, I worship You and You alone.  AMEN.
