Someone Called Me Senile

First thing this morning someone told me that I was at the age when senility should start setting in.  (I'm 53).  Now, to be honest it was a joke.  But it did get me to thinking.

“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

outer self is wasting away - I think that Paul understood getting, "older".  Probably one of his young hipster disciples pointed it out to him.  But he also understood, our inner self is being renewed day by day.  Or in other words, while our age may slow our bodies down, it doesn't slow our lives down.  Jesus renews, refreshes, revives and restores us daily.  We are never too, "old" for Jesus to do something great in and through our lives.

Take the time to enjoy the day around you.
Take the time to be grateful to God for what you have.
Take the time to worship Him with all your heart.

And don't call your pastor senile.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, Thank you for all that you have done for me and all that you will continue to do.  AMEN.
