What A Day!!

The first day of the new year was Sunday!  What a great way to start off the year!  I suppose if I had it my way, the first day of every new year would be Sunday.  I know, I know - I'm dreaming.

Breakfast was great!  Mark Clawson did a fantastic job cooking this morning, and we had a great crowd join us for our first event of 2017.

The worship service was excellent!  Many people who had been traveling for the holidays have returned.  It was great to see them today.

The soup kitchen was fantastic today.  Tony, Donna, Sheila, Mary and others made it a great day.

For some of you who have been asking.  SUPERBOWL is ON!  More about that next Sunday.  You don't want to miss it.

Now to the devotion of the day.

I spoke about prayer, and it's important in our life.  FFWC is praying and fasting this week.  We are praying for ourselves, our families, our church, our community, and our nation.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

When the Bible tells you to "seek" the Lord, it isn't assuming that God is somehow "lost."  The Bible is emphasizing the fact that you need to indicate your relationship with Jesus.

When the Bible tells you to seek his "strength," it is assuming that you are weak and need help.  There is nothing to be ashamed of in admitting this.  You need God.

Then the Bible tells you to seek his face continually.  This passage has some references to the book of Psalms. This particular part was referencing the Ark of God (a source of strength) for the nation of Israel.  Even though they knew that no man could look on the face of God and live - it did not deter them from seeking as close of a relationship with Him as possible.

PRAY:  Dear Jesus, I am asking for you to be a part of my life today.  I need your strength to get through some things.  But most of all, I want you to be the driving force of my life.  AMEN!
