No this isn't a post about nudism. I live in Florida and believe me after you have seen an elderly man at the beach wearing a speedo, you're not a fan of nudism. (Or near nudism.)
What I am writing about is what comes naturally to us.
Galatians 5:19 - 21 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these.
In our own emotional and moral nakedness, this is how we can expose ourselves to God and the rest of the world. I know that my naked metaphor here might be a little difficult to understand but keep reading.
Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. (ESV) The NIV puts it this way, Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.
Paul tells us to get some clothes on! But not just any clothes. Dress for success with the finest clothes possible. Godly clothes.
Gal 5:22 - 23 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
You and I are exposed to the world's nakedness (literally and figuratively) every day. Our "clothes," which is another metaphor for our faith, may confuse or even anger them. However, some people may see what you are, "wearing" and ask you, "Where did you get that fine dress?" "Where did you get those beautiful shoes?" With a smile share with them, how you came to discover your faith and care enough about them to lead them to Christ.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to be clothed with your faith today. Let people see me dressed for success and desire what I have. Then help me share my faith with them. AMEN.
