Bad News is Good News

Today we took pictures. Lots and lots of pictures. The Stevens Family was back in town. If you drove by the church last night or this morning, you probably saw their RV. Erin, their daughter, is an accomplished photographer. You can check out her work here.

When you sit down with Christian leaders, the question that must be asked is, "How's the church?" Don't worry, it isn't a prying question. However, Erin's mom Tammy asked it a little differently this time. "How's the church, is it healthy?" To which I said, "Good Question - NO!"

Now I can go into a long dissertation about what a healthy church is, but this blog isn't about the church - it's about you? Are you healthy?

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is what you would call a good news and bad news verse. Bad News: Sin will always kill you, Yikes! Good News: But Jesus can save you from that awful ending. So when I say, "Are you healthy?" You're probably thinking, no - not really (AKA Bad News). But here's the Good News. You don't have to stay that way.  Bad news has a way of getting our attention.  It is the catalyst that we need to make healthy choices with sometimes.  Sometimes bad news is good news.

#1 - You can change your lifestyle for the better.
#2 - You can change your mind. You can choose to think better.
#3 - You can change your faith (or lack thereof). You can choose to believe better.

PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to make better choices today. I want to change. AMEN.

Oh, and about the church? Don't worry - we are making better choices. We're getting healthier every day.
