Is Christmas Important To You?

Now I am not insinuating that you don't love Jesus or that you are Scrooge.  But over the last few days, I have been listening to people talk about their holiday plans and something is missing.

Sunday's (as we will this Sunday) we will unashamedly and openly worship Jesus.  Why?  We celebrate what He has done (and is doing) for us.  We honor Him for the great sacrifices He made on our behalf.  Sacrifices so great that there has been nor will ever be anyone who can love us more than He has.

So why do we Celebrate Christmas?  The same reason why we celebrate Easter.  We are honoring the sacrifice that He made on our behalf.  For Jesus to come and give His life on the cross for our sins, He had to become flesh like you and me.  To become flesh, He had to give up His Majesty in heaven to come to earth.  Now I am completely honest with you here.  I have no idea what that entails specifically.  What I do know is this.  Jesus, the Son of God, was in heaven.  Third member of the Godhead.  Reigning with the Father in full majesty and glory.  Then He chose to give all of that up.

Phil. 2:7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

So what am I not hearing?  People talk about Jesus' great sacrifice.  Let me ask this another way.   Does Christmas humble you?  It should.  When you think about it, Jesus - The Son of God came to save your life now and forever.  WOW!  Now isn't that a conversation we should be having?

PRAY:  Jesus, thank you for all you did to save my life.  Help me to remember everything great you have done for me this Christmas season.  Help me to worship you accordingly for all of it.  AMEN.

SUNDAY DEC 11TH - It is good to give.  Because Christmas is all about giving I thought it would be a good idea to discover how good it can really be.  Life Groups at 9:15 am and Morning Service at 10:30 am.
