Christmas: New Beginnings

Christmas is a time for new beginnings.  .

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Jesus' arrival was the beginning of the end of the old contract with God.  Everyone's relationship with God was through the Law of Moses.  The Law was the Law.  Obey it, life was good.  Everything about the Law pointed to a Savior who was going to come and change the rules.

Jesus came and changed the rules.  Instead of living under the law of Moses He introduced the law of grace and love.  Because of His sacrifice for our sins, forgiveness was now a reality for anyone who asked.

But some didn't want to change.
The old way of doing things was good enough.

Some wanted to direct the change themselves
Yes, we want change, but it's our way or the highway.

Some yielded to the change willingly
Yes, we want the change and we are willing to take the risk.

Christmas is a great time of the year to start life fresh and anew.  But how?  Well, first you need to determine if you are one of the three mindsets above.  If you are stuck in the first two.  Don't bother.  Change is something that God has to do in your life.

But if you are of the third mindsets, the greatest Christmas gift you can give yourself is a new start.  Jesus came to change your life - accept His change on His terms and you will discover new hope, and a new life.
