In just a few days we will celebrate the new year. If you are like me, you think that 2016 went too fast. But here is the question that you need to consider. What did you do in 2016? What did you accomplish? What did you do differently?
Remember what the definition of insanity is, "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results."
The reason why people keep doing the same things over and over, expecting different results, is simple. They don't know what else to do.
Ephesians 5:15-17 says
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
I get the feeling that Paul was speaking from experience. Every day that we live has enough evil in it to ruin our day. Have you ever thought, "The world is against me!" Well, you are right - it is! So how do you combat this?
2 Timothy 1:7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.
There is no such thing as time management, fiscal management or health management. There is only self-management or self-control. When we manage ourselves well, we manage our time and resources accordingly.
So ask you prepare to face 2017 ask yourself these questions.
- What needs to change? It doesn't matter how insurmountable the subject is. The first step to taking control of your life is to admit you need to take control of your life. Name it and put a star on it. 2017 is going to be different.
PRAY: Dear Jesus, help me to discover what I need to change in 2017. Then help me to have the courage to face it. AMEN.
