When God Moves - Last Sunday at FFWC

I am still processing last Sunday's services with Marsha Woolley and Amy Singleton.  Talk about a God moment!  To say He moved in our hearts and lives is an understatement.

But here are few things, if you're not familiar with Pentecostal style services, that you may need to know.

The REAL special guest was the Holy Spirit.  True He is always with us.  But we can NEVER take this for granted.

God really doesn't care about your opinion.  I am sure that there were some who were thinking, "This would be more appropriate in a prayer meeting or a small group.  This isn't appropriate for church."  Well, all I can tell you is this.  God moved, we didn't plan this or manufacture it.  He thought it was appropriate.

This was about relationships, not religions.  When we determine that we are going to receive from a worship service, we become God.  God will not be pushed out of where He belongs.  He was there to touch peoples lives, if they wanted to receive what He had for them.  The agenda of the service or the proprietary of the service doesn't belong to us - He can do whatever He wants, and He did.

Many gifts of the Holy Spirit were evident during the service.  1 Corinthians 12: 4 - 11 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. (ESV)

While what was happening was deeply spiritual, it wasn't mystical.  These gifts are available to anyone who would yield and receive what the Holy Spirit has in store for them.  Marsha and Amy did a great job yielding to and following the Holy Spirits direction.  It changed peoples lives.

Over 600 million Christians, worldwide, accept and receive this connection with the Holy Spirit - they expect this kind of move from God in their lives.  Not because it's "emotional" or "exciting".   Because they understand, as we should, that such moves of God are necessary to our relationship with Him.  That if we want God to heal us, change us, empower us and set us free - we must be willing to accept and receive what He has in store for us at any given moment.
