I had mention Moses and the Red Sea Sunday during the worship service. That God had to use what was in his hand in order to part the Red Sea.
Now let's be honest here. God didn't need Moses or his staff in order to do part the Red Sea, or did He?
God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
1 Cor 1:27 - 29
Moses understood something that many of us don't get. God is in the business of INCLUDING us in His plans. But be honest here, you would rather that God DIDN'T include you, right? I mean, you would rather God just fix your life and not bother you with all that praying and patience stuff, am I right? Of course I am. We all, if given the chance, will take the easier road through life. Truth is, there are no easy roads.
So your back is up against the sea. You can't swim across. Your enemies are closing in from the front. You can't fight your way out. You can't disappear. You can't give up. You can't blame someone else. You're in trouble.
What do you do?
You can Rant at God. It's all His fault. He led me here after all. What kind of God is he if he allows bad things to happen to His good people. Well first of all, even Jesus wouldn't accept the title, "good" for Himself. Why would you? Secondly, Yes God did lead you there. But do you think He didn't know what was going to happen? Do you think that He doesn't know what to do now? He led the children of Israel to the Red Sea so they could see what He was willing to do for them, whatever the need. You can rant at God all you want to, but I would suggest that you pray for a miracle.
You can Rant at the Sea. Of your problem of the moment. If that stupid sea hadn't been there, we wouldn't be in the mess we are in. You've got to think about this for a moment, really? Ranting your problems will never change your problems - it will never make your problems worry - it will never made your problems go away. They are problems and you need a God who knows how to deal with them. You can rant at the sea all you like, but you need to call upon God to help you in your time of need.
You can Rant at your Enemies. There's an idea. They are already mad at you, let's just make them madder!! First of all enemies will always exist. Not because you made them, (well most of them). But because of who you place your faith in. As long as you place your faith in Christ, Hell will be your enemy. But remember this. Even if you don't place your faith in Christ, Hell still wants to destroy you because you are made in the image of the one who is their greatest enemy. God.
You can Lay down and Die. Like that always works. I refuse to go forward or backward. So I'll go nowhere until I die. I don't know how many people I know that have just become some frustrated with their situations that they just give up. Well, truth be known, if you don't embrace the next option, this is really the only one that you can choose. And what a lousy option it is.
You can Trust God. I know, it a radical thought. But let's pursue it anyway. God knows how to deal with your enemies, your Red Seas and you too! Why not trust Him to handle your situations. You can't do a thing about your Red Seas or enemies, but God can. You could lay down and die, but that isn't an option either.
Well, let's pursue that next time.
