More About the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

"Why do I have to speak in tongues?" I hear that question quite often. Many people struggle with it because they think it makes them look funny or crazy. Well from this worlds point of view, it is funny and crazy. But from God's point of view, it's music to His ears.

The Baptism isn't about this world, it doesn't require mankind's approval nor yours. It is God's gift for you that fits into His plan for your life. How many of you believe in Jer 29:11? "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Well then, if you want that plan for your life and it includes the Baptism in the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in other tongues, then what's the problem?

But back to the original question? "Why do I have to speak in tongues?" In James 3:5 - 9 it says that the tongue is the most unruly member of your body. Think about it, how many times have you got in trouble over something you said. Well it doesn't surprise me that God shows us our complete and total submission to Him through the Baptism by taking the most unruly member of our body and make it submissive to Him.
