Four Calling Birds
The Four Gospels: 1) Matthew, 2) Mark, 3) Luke, and 4) John, which proclaim the Good News of God's reconciliation of the world to Himself in Jesus Christ.
In a few weeks I have the privilege of teaching a group of Bible students the Synoptic Gospels. That's Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The first thing I say in this class is this, "If is wasn't for Matthew, Mark, Luke and John you wouldn't have any hope or a future. Jesus is the central character in each of these books and as such we discover that He is the Son of God, the doctrine of divine healing, forgiveness, mercy, grace and a host of other aspects to our theology that are critical. In fact if you remove these four books from the Bible you have nothing. If you don't know the Gospels, you don't know Jesus."
