When Hope Shows Up!

Yesterday we had to go to the emergency room.

That in itself is a bummer. Never liked the places. Every time I go they want blood, money and more. Don't ask about more. This time though it was Anneka. Temp of 103 point something and fading fast. What was it? The pig flu? Spinal Meningitis? A bacterial infection? What? I have to say, the kid was in bad shape and burning up.

So when we arrive to the hospital we go into triage and quickly we were in a room. All of a sudden this woman pops in and shouts, "Helloooo there!!" She was our ER nurse. I immediately recognize her, Betty needed a few moments. This woman use to cut our hair. So I can vouch that she is good with a pair of scissors. She goes up to Anneka and talks to her and loves on her like one of her own.

Well over the course of the next 4 - 5 hours, a battery of tests and an endless amount of cartoons we were told that she has a viral infection. No flu, no meningitis - nothing serious. So where was the hope? In the form of a nurse who I could tell takes great care of all of her patients. But she went out of her way to make sure that Anneka was taken care of and looked after. While it was an exhausting experience, it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

When I left there it dawned on me. I walked in worried about my daughter. But I left with the hope that everything is going to be ok. All because of one person who could and did make a difference.
