As some of you know, our youth group went to see the "99" last night. After that they came back to the church and had a lock in. Tim, the youth director, then asked Betty and I to watch their house for them. This also comes with the responsibility of watching their dog, Pepe. So all is going well then at 6 a.m., Betty took him out for his morning walk. He does his business and is almost in the house when he spots a cat. Goodbye Pepe. An hour and half later, we finally find the dog.
So what does this have to do with hope? Well at about 6:30, Betty comes and wakes me up and proceeds to bring me up to speed about what has just happened. I go back to sleep. Before you start the nasty emails about my insensitivity here was my point of view on the matter. "The dog will come back."
Betty wasn't so sure about that. She would go outside call for the dog - nothing. Now I knew that the dog would come back - somehow. (As it turned out, he was two houses down the street.) So right before we left, Betty spotted Pepe and he came home. The dog came home! I knew that he had done this before, he will probably do it again, and every time he comes home. I knew that he would come home! Still wondering what this has to do with hope? Everything! This is a great example of what hope is! It's when you know what will happen because you know who and what you are dealing with. We say, "What if...." so much that we forget who we are dealing with - God!
I know that dog and knew what he was doing and I knew what he was going to do. No I am not being arrogant. I'm just telling you - this is what this dog does. Now the question you have to ask yourself is - Do you know what God is going to do in your life? When you know - then you have hope!
