Struggle of Flesh vs. Faith

Eph 6:12 "For our struggle is not against flesh and blood..." I'm not much of a wrestling fan. It's so scripted and over the top for me. The real wrestling for me comes when I'm tempted. Let's call temptation a slice of "death by chocolate" cake. If you've never had one, believe me the name comes close. It's calling your name, even though you know you will pay for it later. Should you or shouldn't you? Yes or No? In life something motivates our decision. We don't react with instinct - we react with motive. When our motives arise from our sinful , selfish, manipulative, controlling self, we eat the cake. When our motives arise from a heart that is dedicated to God and separated from this world, we say no. Temptation hasn't a chance against faith. Faith win every time because it is wholly dedicated to keeping you from doing anything that would separate you from God.

Many times we confuse our flesh with our faith. We think that they are one and the same, but they are not. Struggling in the flesh isn't the same as struggling in our faith. There are things about this world that are wrong. Sin is doing its job and has been since the Garden of Eden. What we have to remember is, our faith will have nothing to do with sin - it refuses to have anything to do with it. Faith will move sin out of our hearts and lives. So when we struggle against flesh and blood, especially our own, it is our faith that will overcome.
